by Dawn Hegland on December 29th, 2011

Is one of your resolutions for 2012 to be more green? Want to be a GreenStep City? The process is easy and you may have already implemented several of their Best Practices!

Minnesota GreenStep Cities is a challenge, assistance and recognition program to help cities achieve their sustainability goals through implementation of 28 best practices. Each best practice can be implemented by completing one or more specific actions from a list of four to eight actions. These actions are tailored to all Minnesota cities, focus on cost savings and energy use reduction, and encourage innovation.

GreenStep Cities’ 28 Best Practices fall under the categories of Buildings and Lighting, Land Use, Transportation, Environmental Management and Economic and Community Development. To see the complete list of Best Practices, click here. You can also fill out a quick questionnaire to determine what category your city fits.

In Region 6W, Milan is the only city to become a GreenStep City.
