DESCRIPTION:As part of the UMVRDC monthly board meeting\, MnDOT officials will make present a draft of the Area Transportation Improvement Program (ATIP) on transportation projects proposed for 2013-2016. The draft ATIP uses federal funds for roads\, bridges\, rail road crossings\, safety projects\, transportation enhancements\, and local transit (bus) service. DESCRIPTION:The Center for Small Towns and the Bush Foundation are partnering to highlight the importance of leadership in our communities. The joint gathering strives to be practical\, affordable\, and to create a platform to maximize the benefits of face-to-face interactions for all who care about small towns and rural areas. \nThere are TWO important events taking place: \n\nLEADERSHIP CHAUTAUQUA – JUNE 12–13\, 2012\n\nThe first event is a Leadership Chautauqua hosted by the Bush Foundation. The Chautauqua is intended for program providers\, funders\, and researchers of leadership programs. The event will bring leadership development program practitioners from Minnesota\, North Dakota and South Dakota to join with community leaders to explore how leadership development programs assist in our community vitality efforts. If you work in the areas listed above\, we hope you will consider being a part of this unique convening. The Leadership Chautauqua begins on the evening of June 12th and continues all day on June 13th. \n\nSYMPOSIUM ON SMALL TOWNS – JUNE 13–14\, 2012\n\nThe 2012 Symposium on Small Towns merges with the Leadership Chautauqua for a reception with music and food the evening of June 13th. On June 14th\, the Symposium will feature talks by distinguished speakers\, a public policy panel\, presentations by community members about their work\, and a “Reigniting” showcase fair. We can meet the rapid pace of change in rural America with new strategies and measured risks. There are tools\, resources\, and models to meet the challenges. The 2012 Symposium on Small Towns brings community leaders together to celebrate\, learn and grow. Come with examples and questions from your community and learn about the grant writing process. \nWho should attend? \nDowntown revitalization board members\, volunteers and staff \nAbout the Speaker\nNancy Franke Wilson from Franke Wilson Consulting will be the featured presenter at the training. For over four years\, Ms. Wilson was the Community Health Liaison (CHL) contractor for the MN Dept of Public Safety’s Office of Traffic Safety where she was responsible for providing technical assistance to 21–25 grant funding traffic safety coalitions throughout the State of Minnesota each year. \nRegistration Fees\n$35 for Associate Members of Minnesota Main Street\n$75 for all others\nRegister by 5 p.m. October 18.

There are approximately 62\,421 miles of township roads with 6\,000 bridges in Minnesota. This comprises 44 percent of the 141\,687 total roadway miles in Minnesota. \nAs the association for townships\, we provide education\, training and technical services to township officers and represent townships before the state legislature and state agencies. \n  \n
