The City of Granite Falls was awarded a $625,888 Small Cities Development Program (SCDP) grant from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED), authored by the UMVRDC. The grant supported the rehabilitation of 11 owner-occupied homes, seven rental single-family homes, and six commercial properties. The 24 improvement projects, totaling $891,501, created work for local contractors and resulted in safety, energy-efficiency, and aesthetic improvements.
