The UMVRDC’s request for proposals for intelligent rural community applications was a great success! Sixteen applications from throughout all five counties were submitted by the November 22 deadline requesting more than $250,000 in grant funds.
The UMVRDC’s regional steering committee allocated up to $75,000 for projects that promote the use of broadband technology and that can show measureable outcomes by March 2012. The UMVRDC steering committee will be meeting in early December to review and prioritize applications with the intent of awarding contracts by the first of the year.
The UMVRDC was selected by the C. K. Blandin Foundation as one of eleven Minnesota Intelligent Rural Communities (MIRC) under the Foundations’ U.S. Department of Commerce broadband grant. Read more about the project here on our website.
