Dawson Awarded Infrastructure Funds

Posted by viadmin | January 7, 2011

The UMVRDC assisted the City of Dawson with grant writing services that recently helped secure $500,000 from the Department of Employment and Economic Development’s Business Development Public Infrastructure (BDPI) program for improvements in their industrial park to assist expanding businesses. Funds would be used for road, curb & gutter improvements and would support a new pre-treatment plant needed for new and expanding business in Dawson’s industrial park.

Greater Minnesota Business Development Public Infrastructure (Minnesota DEED)

The Greater Minnesota Business Development Infrastructure Program helps stimulate publicly owned infrastructure that supports new economic development projects, including wastewater collection and treatment, drinking water, storm sewers, utility extensions, and streets
Eligible Applicants: Statutory or home rule cities outside of the seven-county metropolitan area
Funds Available: 50% of infrastructure costs, typically up to $250,000
Restrictions: Based on businesses interested in locating/expanding in the project area; number of jobs created and increase in tax base
Deadline: Funded with the bonding bill every two years, open application process; will fund eligible applications until funds are used up
