The City of Dawson has many invested organizations interested in the future of their community. The Dawson Chamber of Commerce initiated a strategic planning process facilitated by the Upper Minnesota Valley Regional Development Commission (UMVRDC) to talk about what projects could move their city forward.
Dawn, Kristi and Lindsey met with a group of Dawson leaders on March 25th for the initial meeting. The group as a whole wanted to find out what projects were worth doing, what projects were possible to do and to give some focus to the projects that were deemed the highest priority. It was important to find out if they were duplicating efforts, and instead work together on important projects.
The UMVRDC followed up with an online survey and then a meeting on April 15th that resulted in seven specific action steps. These steps along with a timeline and project leaders are outlined in a final work plan created by the UMVRDC.
