The Minnesota Association of Townships is a voluntary membership organization representing 1,782 of Minnesota’s 1,784 organized townships and nearly 9,000 elected township officers. 17.5 percent of Minnesota’s population resides in townships with 930,972 of the total Minnesota population of 5,300,942 being township residents. There are approximately 62,421 miles of township roads with 6,000 bridges in Minnesota. This comprises 44 percent of the 141,687 total roadway miles in Minnesota.
As the association for townships, we provide education, training and technical services to township officers and represent townships before the state legislature and state agencies.
