Give the Gift of Local Foods this Holiday Season

Posted by viadmin | November 3, 2010

Buy Fresh Buy Local of the Upper Minnesota River Valley is helping you give the gift of local foods this holiday season. Once again, Buy Fresh Buy Local (BFBL) is offering Holiday Gift Baskets. There are four different Holiday Gift Baskets to choose from:  The Breakfast Basket, Beef Roasting Basket, Chicken & Wild Rice Basket, and a Pamper Basket. The baskets range from $30-$45 and each basket includes a yearlong BFBL Vocal Local membership and an attractive reusable BFBL bag.

There are so many reasons to buy local this holiday season:

  • You can give loved ones, co-workers, neighbors and friends a delicious present they will talk about throughout 2011.
  • You are giving a gift to your community; every dollar you spend for local food goes to a local farmer, and that dollar circulates through your community.
  • You are also giving a gift of cleaner water and air, better soil and more biodiversity – increasing the long-term prosperity, healthy and beauty of your home region, the Upper Minnesota River Basin.
  • And, it’s fun!

Buy Fresh Buy LocalBFBL Holiday Baskets can be ordered through November 29.  They will be available for pick up at three locations: Montevideo, Morris and Willmar on December 6-7.  For more information or to order your BFBL Holiday Gift Baskets visit www.prideoftheprairie.org.  You can also call Anne with BFBL at 320-226-6318 or email her at communications@sfa-mn.org.

Buy Fresh Buy Local connects YOU to the freshest and most delicious, local, sustainable, and healthy foods in the Upper Minnesota River Valley.

Buy Fresh Buy Local Upper Minnesota River Valley is part of the FoodRoutes Network, a national nonprofit organization that provides technical support to community-based groups that are working to strengthen regional markets for locally grown food.  Visit www.foodroutes.org to learn how FoodRoutes is reintroducing Americans to their food.
