Safe Routes to School aims to create safe, convenient, and fun opportunities for children to bicycle and walk to and from schools. The goal is to reverse the decline in children walking and bicycling to schools, increase kids’ safety and reverse the alarming nationwide trend toward childhood obesity and inactivity. The UMVRDC and KMS School District have partnered together to develop a Safe Routes to School Plan for both KMS Elementary School in Murdock and KMS High School in Kerkhoven. Below are the draft plans for each school that will be hosted for public comment until May 31st, 2017. Any public comment should be directed toward UMVRDC planner and plan author Jason Brisson at jason@umvrdc.org or 320. 289.1981 x 107.
