The City of Milan just completed their updated Comprehensive Plan. To view the complete Milan plan click here.
The City Council adopted the Plan on October 1, 2013. The planning process identified issues and outlined goals and strategies that can address the needs for the future. The plan includes updated population, social and economic information using 2010 Census data to create a community profile. An inventory was done to document the current status of the housing, business and public investments. The goals, objectives and strategies were then updated to reflect the most recent trends and to address current and emerging issues and needs.
There are many benefits to planning. A comprehensive plan may attract new citizens by having some assurance of what their future surroundings will look like. Current residents can plan for the future with confidence that the city will be kept up. One of the most valuable components of the comprehensive plan is the goals and strategies that the city decision-makers agree are important when looking at the needs of the city and where to invest limited resources.
