Minnesota State Arts Board Seeking Volunteer Panelists

Posted by viadmin | June 1, 2011

The Minnesota State Arts Board is currently seeking nominations for volunteer panelists. The Arts Board is looking for lots of different perspectives on its panels.
Panelists serve the very critical function of advising the Arts Board which applications best meet the criteria of our grant programs. Your role as a panelist would be to read the application materials before the panel meeting, discuss the application materials with other panelists during the meeting, and make recommendations for future changes to the grant program. All panels are facilitated by a program officer, an Arts Board staff member with in-depth knowledge of the grant program. Depending on the grant program, there are between 5-10 panelists on each panel.
Panel service to the Arts Board is a volunteer position. Mileage, parking, lodging, and meals are reimbursed.
Submitting a panelist nomination form is not a commitment to service and doesn’t guarantee that you will serve the Arts Board as a panelist.  It is the first step to service, and helps give a better picture of you and your qualifications as the Arts Board looks to balance many factors on each individual panel.
The Arts Board is hoping to broaden its list of panelists in Greater Minnesota, persons of color, and persons with disabilities, so even if you’re not interested in serving, please consider passing this on to others who you think might be a good fit. Think about what kind of person you’d want evaluating your organization in a future grant application!
If you have any questions about panel service, don’t hesitate to call or email Jennifer Tonko at the contact information below.
Nomination forms are due by June 30. However, don’t hesitate to continue to send nominations after that date.
