UMVRDC Staff Representing our Region Nationwide

UMVRDC staff have been all over the country this week representing our region. Kirk Bustrom, UMVRDC Senior Planner attended the second annual “An Afternoon with the CEDS” workshop hosted by the National Association of Development Organizations (NADO) Research Foundation in Arlington, VA. Kirk presented on our region’s Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) Report.

Participants had the opportunity to:

  • Learn best practices and approaches to Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) planning, development, and implementation
  • Hear from EDA staff about the latest news and funding opportunities and share feedback on your experiences with the CEDS
  • Discover approaches to infuse economic resilience and diversification strategies into your CEDS
  • Problem-solve your CEDS challenges with peers

Laura Ostlie, UMVRDC Economic Development Specialist, attended the International Biomass Conference and Expo in Savannah, Georgia. This conference is the largest biomass conference in the world. The City of Benson/Swift County have been attending this conference for several years to showcase the multitude of resources their communities can offer to the biomass industry. Benson and Swift County are recognized by conference attendees and have earned the respect amongst the industry leaders.
